Peta Clancy is a Photomedia Lecturer in the Department of Multimedia and Digital Arts at the Faculty of Art & Design, Monash University. She studied Fine Arts at RMIT University (BA), the University of Tasmania (BA Hons) and Media Arts at RMIT (MA). She successfully completed her PhD at Monash University in the Faculty of Art & Design in 2009.

She has received a number of public grants and awards including the Australia Council London Visual Art Residency in 2004. In 2007 she received an Australia Council New Work Grant to produce her artist book Paper Thin which includes an essay by Melissa Miles.

Recent solo exhibitions include Paper Thin, Dominik Mersch Gallery, Sydney (2009); Amorphous bodies – the space between, Faculty Gallery, Monash University, Melbourne (2009); Elixir, Dominik Mersch Gallery (2007); and Visible Human Bodies, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, United Kingdom (2005).

Recent group exhibitions include Agenda, Dominik Mersch Gallery, Sydney (2010); The Skin Show, Shifted, Melbourne (2009); Link, RMIT School of Art Gallery (2008); U Turn, Glendale College Art Gallery, Los Angeles, USA; Josephine Ulrick & Win Schubert Photography Award, Gold Coast City Art Gallery; and ABN AMRO Emerging Artist Award, Sydney (2007).

Clancy's work has been featured in journals including Photofile (2008), Australian Art Collector (2007), Microbiology Today (UK) (2007) and Eyeline Contemporary Visual Arts Magazine (2006) and is included in the following publications: Art in the Age of Technoscience: Genetic Engineering, Robotics, and Artificial Life in Contemporary Art written by Ingeborg Reichle published by Springer, Vienna/New York, 2009 and Look Contemporary Australian Photography written by Anne Marsh and published by MacMillan Publishers Australia, 2010.
